That's why the SISU Aero guard is perfect for high contact sports such as rugby, lacrosse, hockey and many more.
Ultimate Protection
This SISU Aero Guard is made with cutting edge thermoplastic technology that is up to 30 percent stronger than most mouthguard materials. This makes the SISU Aero Mouthguard eight times more ductile than most conventional guards, so your teeth can get the maximum amount of protection they need, keeping your mouth safe while you play.
Advanced Technology
The SISU Next Generation Aero Guard is the latest in mouthguard engineering. With its super-slim, ultralight design, you can finally bid farewell to the days of bulky, uncomfortable mouthguard protection. Measuring in at a lean 1.6mm width (for size small, 2.0mm for size medium), the Aero guard is up to 50 percent thinner than any other mouthguard, making it the most comfortable choice for athletes today.
Can I Wear the Guard with Braces?
Yes, the mouthguard is specially designed to cater for all mouth and teeth types, so you can play safely even with braces. In fact, the guard is more essential with braces as it will ensure your gums are protected. SISU advise that the medium and large sizes are compatible with braces. Not all colour variants are available in a large.
What Size Should I Choose?
The SISU Next Generation Aero Mouthguard is supplied in three sizes of small, medium and large that vary according to characteristics such as age, height and mouth arch size. To find out which size best suits you, please refer to the table below:
Size | Height | Mouth Arch Size | Age |
Small | Under 5 feet | For smaller mouths and children | 7+ |
Medium | 5 - 6 feet | For average mouths | 10+ |
Large | Over 6 feet | For larger mouths | 13+ |
For athletes with braces, please choose a size medium (for children) or large (for adults).
If you have a larger than usual dental arch, we recommend choosing the size up. For those with a smaller than usual dental arch, please choose the size smaller for a more comfortable fit.
How Do I Fit the Mouthguard?
To fit the mouthguard, you must have the following:
- Bowl
- Hot, but not boiling water (76 degrees Celsius)
- Fork
- Mirror
For a step-by-step guide on how to prepare, use and apply the mouthguard, please follow the steps below:
Step One:
Make sure your hands are clean and wash the material with soap and hot water.
Step Two:
Fill the bowl with water and heat to temperature (76 degrees Celsius).
Step Three:
Place the mouthguard into the water so that is it fully submerged and leave until soft. You can use your fork to test for pliability.
Step Four:
Once soft, take the mouthguard out of the water using your fork, making sure that the guard does not fold in on itself.
Step Five:
Tilt your head backwards and open your mouth widely. Balancing the guard on your thumbs, insert it into your mouth and bite down gently on the solid bar in the middle of the gum shield. You can use the mirror to guide you.
Step Six:
Press your tongue to the roof of your mouth and hold. Then, starting at the back of your mouth, use your fingers to push the guard up against your teeth to mould into place.
Step Seven:
Once you are satisfied that the guard is completely moulded to your teeth, close your mouth over the surface of the guard and suck in air through your lips. This will allow the material to harden and ensure a perfect fit.
When fitting the SISU Aero guard with braces, you must cover the brackets with aluminium foil or wax. This will create a barrier between your teeth and the mouthguard as without, it may be hard to remove once hardened.
